Hello everyone, I’m Meatball. Last week, we introduced the La Mer “$500 100ml magic Lamer cream, is it really so good? – Lady cream test 1“. We are going to talk to you about La Prairie today.
La Prairie’s questionable brand history
Although La Prairie has a lot of loyal fans and many fairies say that it is a product that is continuously repurchased, I think the brand is a bit suspicious after a deep investigation of the background of La Prairie. The suspicious place is the “living cell essence” that they have been promoting. We can see from the official brand introduction that the brand story is based on a doctor named Paul Niehans.
Roughly speaking, Dr. Paul Niehans is the inventor of “cell therapy”, which was invented in the 1930s. And La Prairie was his former clinic. That’s probably the relationship. But there are other ways to learn from Wikipedia that Paul Niehans’ cell therapy has always been controversial. And it is not recognized by the mainstream medical community (another cell therapy is recognized by the mainstream medical community, not his one), nor is it used in the regular clinical treatment, and it is classified into “alternative therapy”.
Let’s not say that the treatment of Paul Niehans is controversial. Since La prairie is under the banner of “living cell essence”, at least, “the essence of living cells” was invented by the doctor. It’s not known. Officials only use vague words to illustrate the relationship between the essence of living cells and Paul Niehans – the inspiration comes from Paul Niehans. What is inspiration from? Well, this one probably depends on your own brain.
The only direct relationship with Paul Niehans was in the 1980s when an entrepreneur named Armin Mattli bought Paul Niehans’ clinic and later continued to do medical research and nursing homes. By the way, the Clinique La Prairie health center is still in operation. It’s true that the environment is excellent.

However, when, who and exactly how La Prairie’s skincare products were first produced are not recorded. This period of history just disappeared. La Prairie’s skincare products seem to spring out of the cracks of stones for no reason. I really can’t find any other information. The fairies I know can leave messages to Meatball.
Living cell essence
If there is no history, then at least the essence of living cells is something special. So what is the essence of this “living cell essence”? I found a media press release: La Prairie has also spared no effort to protect its manufacturing technology. Apart from the use of special recipes and processes, three independent laboratory laboratories have been used to ensure that the essence of living cells is not exported. One is dedicated to the yeast fermentation process, one for the microbial fermentation process, and the third for mixing different ingredients. No technician or chemist knows the exact formula of living cell essence. Its remarkable effect also hides endless possibilities.
Yeast fermentation? Microbial fermentation? Huh? So this “living cell” is yeast? Whether Paul Niehans’ theory is controversial or not, but at least the animal cells used in that year, how did they become yeast? And from the ingredients list of the food and drug administration, I did find that there was only yeast, and there was nothing else that looked like “living cells”. For example thermophilic fermentation products, beer yeast extract, lactobacillus fermentation products.

Caviar extract
La Prairie’s publicizing copy reads: “one of the world’s luxurious cream, can fully nourish and compactness the skin. It contains La Prairie’s unique living cell essence, roe essence, seaweed egg white, wheat protein and a series of plant extracts, which can effectively stimulate the regeneration of collagen, smooth and firm skin, and quickly improve the condition of fatigue, dull, dry and water-deficient skin, so that the skin will shine like a young silk like satin. “
So in addition to the “living cells” suspected of yeast, there must be fish roe? La Prairie is called “caviar” in the Jianghu slang. In fact, part of the reason why it gets its name is that a star product of their family looks really “caviar”. On the other hand, it often emphasizes the skincare function of “caviar” in its promotional brief.
But the sturgeon sauce extract, which symbolizes the composition of the “caviar essence”, comes back very far behind and is used chiefly as an antioxidant in the product. Similarly, this is also an anti-aging and moisturizing functional ingredient. It’s hard to say whether it’s the core ingredient or just the meaning? I have reservations.
Other ingredients
This is La Prairie Skin Caviar Luxe Cream · sheer:
In addition to yeast and piscine extract, a large number of ingredients are mainly used: Chondrus crispus extract, gluconolactone, and algae extract. This group is still very expensive. It has moisturizing, anti-inflammatory and anti-aging effects. Its aqueous solution can also be thickened. In fact, this cream is very thick and its texture is very heavy.
Gluconolactone is called “the next generation of fruit acids”. Fruit acid is a familiar ingredient. Its main functions are moisturizing, reducing fine lines and whitening. But this component can replace the outermost layer of cuticle. If we don’t pay attention to the control amount, it will damage our skin barrier. Glucuronolactone is milder, less irritating, moisturizing and antioxidant than fruit acid.
In short, it’s this ingredient. It has all the benefits of fruit acid, but it’s more gentle in use. Lady cream is a product that is more targeted at mature muscles. This gentle and effective ingredient is very consistent with the positioning of this product. Not to mention the algae extract. We also mentioned it in the wintersweet article, which is also a good ingredient.
Seek truth from facts
In short, La Prairie Skin Caviar Luxe Cream Sheer has worked hard in the two functions of “anti-aging” and “moisturizing”. It will indeed have good results and is worth trusting. Many online reviews also feel that it is a good word, and also a word of mouth product in the cream of a lady. However, the advertising of this brand is a bit of a donkey’s head and a horse’s mouth. I can’t find the corresponding ingredients, which is very embarrassing.
A very typical saying: “it is not that the cream of a lady’s face is not good. It is the fact that the Brief propaganda points of these women’s creams are far from our advocacy. “
Use experience
▍Usage and appearance
In the previous issue, we focused on the usage of La Mer “emulsification”. The cream of La Prairie is not so complicated. Just wipe it directly on your face, and use it as a normal cream. I also like its low-key and luxurious appearance. The whole appearance box is like a silver paint bucket, equipped with a La Prairie circular logo, on which is the sanatorium logo, which is simple and technological on the whole.
After opening the outer packing, you can see the Buddha. The typical “caviar essence” series of blue with a clean and sanitary small jigging spoon.
The smell is also the typical strong smell of the “Lady product”. It smells like “skincare products for moms” and smells like perfume. In terms of texture, it feels very thick when taking the product with a small spoon. But after contact with the skin, it is very good to push away. There is no heavy feeling of ordinary cream. Instead, it feels like the essence of the blood.
Here is the time for fairies to share~
La Prairie’s consistent big fragrance needs to be adapted. In the beginning, it really has a feeling of over fragrance. In addition to its slightly smoked aroma, it really subverted my imagination about the degree of frost. It has a very good sense of use and moisturizes after absorption. After about one week of continuous use, there is a visible skin lift. It feels a little tighter when touching, and the feeling of the skins powerless and drooping has been significantly improved.
Especially when the skin is not in good condition and very tired, it makes my skin feel plump. Although it doesn’t have a whitening effect, it’s really powerful for moisturizing, so it’s continued to be used. The darkening of the face is improved, it’s very shiny, and it looks a little white.
The sheer version of the “caviar essence” cream is fresher, and its texture is between frost and lotion. It is more lightweight and absorbable. I used the non-sheer version of the cream before, but it was slightly rubbed and lighter. If there is an anti-aging demand, I think this series is a good choice when the budget is adequate.
Although there are already some fine lines that can’t be filled back by it, I think it’s a sense of delaying aging. It can only be used from a few years old, and it can be maintained a little longer at a few years old. After all, the man can’t overcome gravity. But there is no substitute for the products that are positioned at this price. If there is a demand for anti-aging in this field, we can also consider the cost performance.
I think I’ll push caviar “all my life” until I find a replacement. First of all, I like it very much. Like mousse cake, it says that the cream of a lady’s face is the same. But LP is a taste that can be recognized in a moment. It’s also equipped with a small spoon. The advantage is that it doesn’t need to be put in by hand. It’s very clean and sanitary. But the disadvantage is that it will dig out a lot every time. I love my wallet.
The cream has excellent ductility. The first time I used it was amazing, and my skin was tight. This is what I didn’t experience before using the cream. I don’t have any big problems with my skin. Maybe I am the kind of “buying is using feeling” that the temple Master said. I used some other cream on the way, but I didn’t feel any caviar.
Follow the wind to buy La Prarie cream, sheer version, personally, feel that the taste is not very good. The moisturizing version of the LP cream is thinner. It spreads well after the face. It has excellent ductility and is easy to absorb. It feels like eating the cream completely into the skin. But the sheer version is really bad for dry skin. Moisture lock is too weak to achieve the effect of the cream. It seems that only large oil fields can use this kind of sheer.
If it’s dry skin or neutral skin, it’s better to put it directly into a moistening version. As for the effect, it’s hard to say. It’s hard to see the wrinkle resistance, but the skin’s fineness seems to be improved. This cream will not be bought back.
Well, here we are. This is the test of the lady’s cream. The next issue we are going to introduce is Chantecaille diamond cream.
