A CPAP machine’s advertised price is only one part of the cost of starting therapy. You also need to know which equipment is included, what you must buy separately, and whether you are paying cash or using an insurance supplier.
This US guide separates those costs, gives a dated snapshot of real advertised prices, and explains the questions to ask before paying. If you are still learning what the equipment does, start with our CPAP machine guide.
How Much Does a CPAP Machine Cost in the US?
For one concrete example, three US listings checked on October 15, 2026 advertised the ResMed AirSense 11 AutoSet with a humidifier and non-heated tubing at $1,004 to $1,054. These are examples for one model and configuration, not a price range for every CPAP machine or a quote for your complete treatment.
| Seller and listing | Displayed price (USD) | Configuration checked |
|---|---|---|
| cpap.com | $1,004.00 | AutoSet; water chamber and SlimLine hose listed. ClimateLineAir heated hose sold separately. |
| RespShop | $1,004.00 | AutoSet, model 39000 selected; humidifier, water chamber and SlimLine tubing listed. |
| Resmed Shop | $1,054.00 | AutoSet with HumidAir and SlimLine standard tubing; mask explicitly excluded. |
These are displayed product-page prices, without applying coupon codes or completing checkout. They do not establish a delivered total, stock availability, a nationwide average, or insurance eligibility. Check the current price, shipping address restrictions, taxes and selected options with each seller before ordering.
When comparing other devices, keep the prescribed therapy type and equipment condition consistent. A mask-only listing is not a machine price, and a monthly rental payment is not an outright purchase price. CPAP, APAP and bilevel devices also need separate comparisons; our CPAP vs BiPAP article explains the terminology.
For Pophaw’s current options, open the DS6, DS7 and DS8 product page and select the specific machine before checking its current price. That page also has a separate mask option. The retailer examples above are other products and do not establish Pophaw pricing or equivalent features.
What Is Included in the Price?
Ask for an itemized package list rather than assuming “CPAP machine” means a complete setup. The sampled listings illustrate why: a standard hose can be included while a heated hose or mask is an additional purchase. Confirm your own quote independently.
| Item | Question to ask |
|---|---|
| Machine | What is the exact model, therapy type and selected option? Is it new, refurbished or rented? |
| Humidification | Are the humidifier and usable water chamber included, or priced separately? |
| Mask | Does the quote include a complete mask with the correct size and headgear, or only a replacement component? |
| Tubing and filters | Which hose and starter filters are supplied? Does heated tubing cost extra? |
| Power and support | Which power supply and US plug are supplied? What setup assistance and warranty service are included? |
| Delivered total | What are shipping, tax and any other charges for your address? |
Check accessory compatibility by the accessory’s own specifications and your machine model. Buying a mask, battery or pillow from the same store does not by itself establish compatibility.

Upfront and Ongoing Costs
Separate the amount needed to get started from the spending you may face later. Your starting budget may include the device, missing setup items, and any appointments or testing your clinician requires. Ask the clinical provider for those fees separately from the equipment quote.
For ongoing supplies, list the parts you actually use: mask cushions or pillows, headgear, tubing, filters and a water chamber where applicable. Record their compatible part numbers and current unit prices. Replacing a cushion is a different purchase from replacing an entire mask.
Use the manufacturer’s care instructions and your supplier’s advice when budgeting replacements. ResMed notes that insurers have different replacement schedules, so check with your provider. A coverage schedule is not proof that everyone needs the same number of replacements each year.
A useful first-year worksheet is: equipment you need now + missing accessories + delivery and tax + supplies you expect to replace + separately quoted clinical costs. Leave unconfirmed items open until you have a quote. Do not add optional travel batteries or comfort accessories automatically to everyone’s starting budget.
Paying Cash vs Using Insurance
A cash price is the seller’s purchase price. An insurance estimate depends on your benefits and the supplier arrangement. Comparing a cash price with a copay alone can leave out deductible payments, rental months or separately billed supplies.
HealthCare.gov defines a deductible as the amount paid for covered services before the plan starts paying. Coinsurance is your percentage of covered costs after the deductible. A copayment is a fixed charge. Your own plan determines which terms apply to equipment.
Before choosing a payment route, request two written totals for the same equipment: the delivered cash purchase total and the insurer/supplier’s estimated patient responsibility. For insurance, ask about network status, authorization, deductible remaining, rental terms, separate supply charges and any continued-coverage conditions. An estimate should state its assumptions.
Do not assume that buying online will count toward your deductible or qualify for reimbursement. Confirm that specific transaction with your insurer before paying. Likewise, ask the seller about its payment methods before assuming insurance billing or HSA/FSA acceptance.
How Medicare CPAP Coverage Works
Medicare’s CPAP coverage page describes Part B coverage for eligible, medically necessary home equipment prescribed by a provider. It may cover a 12-week trial for diagnosed obstructive sleep apnea; continuation requires an in-person provider meeting and documentation that coverage conditions are met and therapy is helping.
After the Part B deductible, you generally pay 20% of the Medicare-approved amount for rental and related supplies when the supplier accepts assignment. Medicare pays rental for 13 months while you use the machine continuously; after 13 continuous months of rental payments, you own it.
Confirm that your provider and equipment supplier are Medicare-enrolled and accept claims, and ask whether the supplier accepts assignment for every rental month. This is not 20% of an online retail sticker price. Ask your plan about your own benefits, especially if you have Medicare Advantage or other coverage. These rules do not establish that Pophaw is a Medicare supplier.
A Checklist for Comparing Quotes
- Match the device. Write down the exact model, therapy type, condition and purchase or rental arrangement.
- Match the package. Compare masks, hose type, chamber, filters and power supply line by line.
- Calculate the delivered total. Include address-specific shipping, tax and required extras. Record the date and any coupon conditions.
- Check the payment route. For insurance, get your estimated responsibility and coverage conditions from the plan and supplier.
- Read after-sale terms. Check opened-item returns, mask exchanges, warranty coverage and who handles service.
- Keep a separate supply budget. Use compatible part prices and your actual needs rather than a universal annual replacement allowance.
Once your clinician has specified the appropriate therapy, browse the CPAP Machine category or BiPAP machines for the relevant device type. Compare the complete quote before deciding which purchase fits your budget.
CPAP Machine Cost: Common Questions
Does the listed price include a mask and tubing?
Read the selected package’s contents. A machine listing can include standard tubing while excluding a mask or heated tubing. Ask for a complete item list and make sure a mask listing is for the full assembly you need.
Is a cash price the same as an insurance copay?
No. The cash price is a purchase quote. A copay is one type of patient charge under an insurance plan. Compare the full estimated patient responsibility, including applicable deductible payments and rental or supply charges, with the delivered cash total.
Does Pophaw accept insurance for CPAP equipment?
Before ordering, ask Pophaw whether it can bill your specific plan, and ask your insurer whether that purchase and supplier qualify for coverage or reimbursement. Do not treat a product listing, payment receipt or this guide as confirmation that your plan will pay.
Can I compare a mask price with a machine price?
No. A mask is a separate part of the setup. Select the machine option when checking device prices, then add any required items that are not included. This is especially important on pages offering both machines and masks.
