Transport wheelchairs make it easier for your loved ones and caregivers to help you get around in comfort and ease. Compared to standard wheelchairs, a transport chair requires a caregiver to push the chair. A transport chair is much lighter than a wheelchair; plus, it is more compact, which makes getting around town easier.
This Medline Transport Wheelchair comes equipped with loop-lock handbrakes that are easy to operate and ideal for locking the rear wheels during transfers. It also has a seat belt, which keeps the passenger securely in place, and it is compact when folded, making it easy to lift into a car or carry up the stairs. It weighs just 23.5 pounds and is equipped with a seat belt, comfortable nylon upholstery, a full-length permanent armrest, and detachable footrests.

Nice transport chair with a sturdy frame and bigger wheels for a smooth ride. Folding is quick and it is not that heavy to toss into the back of the SUV. Our last chair, all the wheels were the same size and felt flimsy compared to this new chair.
When you measure for the chair, realize that the handles are the widest point. This adds to the comfort of the chair not digging into the rider’s back but also means your knuckles might feel the wall/door frame 1st. The adjustable foot rests are awesome and easy to pick the size.
Could be better comments:
The brake handles are a bit over sized though. If you buy medium gloves, you might find your hands strain to be on the handles and your fingers be in the brake levers. Compare to the brake handles in the pictures for Medline’s wheel chair or walking assist strollers, those handles look more like brakes you find on a bike that will fit more sizes of hands.
There is also a “drag” feel in the wheels when pushing it. When we turn it over and spin the wheels, 2 spin freely and 2 only make a few rotations before stopping on their own. The wheels also aren’t true and when you spin them you can see a slight wobble as they move around. We do feel a slight pull to the left which is easy to compensate for.
Also finding that the wheels don’t always stay on the ground when going over uneven surfaces. Few times one of the front wheels looses contact with the ground and spins bumping into the person’s foot. (like a shopping cart wheel might spin) Might try adjusting the middle pivot bars. Other transport chairs we have don’t have this problem over the same surfaces.
Around the house we keep the foot rests off but use them when going out. The rest is just a flat surface so it depends on your shoe grip to keep your feet in place. Other chairs have a strap or notch for your heel to rest on so you can relax and not have to keep your feet there. Not a deal breaker for the chair!!
Over all happy with the chair, glad we got it.

Made the right choice. Meets our needs & then some! First, I have to give props to JDCSupplies. We purchased it on a Saturday & I emailed them with an inquiry that evening. I was Pleasantly pleased when one of their employees Responded by the very next morning, Sunday!! I was Concerned & confused by the description being “blue” but the photo showed a burgandy one, which we wanted. He replied, “Hello, Looks like the chair is blue, but we can switch it no problems. Thank you. Joe Jdcsupplies CustomerCare Rep.”
So then I responded, “THANK YOU JOE!!! You Just Made Mine & My Husband’s Day!! 😀 😀 I am IMPRESSED with Your response time & attention, also that I now the Peace of mind to not worry about When I am going to get a response AND to know JDC Supplies is based on ‘Customer Service!’ I will be Definitely making a point to go onto Pophaw, your website, once we get our chair, to let EVERYONE know this too!!! Well done Joe… Well done JDC!! We know WHO we will go to for Any future purchases of medical equipment, and we will Definitely refer our family & friends. Plus, I am on Facebook with just under 300 FB family & friends, I’ll also be posting a Link to JDC Supplies for people to “Share” on their walls too!!! I know this all sounds a bit, ‘overwhelming’ … but, when someone has shown us such Good deeds.. we believe people Need to ‘take the time’ to praise them. More people are too busy making sure they complain about, sometimes ridiculous things..they need to also make sure they take the time to, as I mention, praise. So with that, I Will follow through. We look forward to receiving our chair…we are in dire need for making travel to doctor appointments, & even a treat to dinner, Out, for my Parents & my Mother in law. It’ll be a Blessing for them & Us too. Thank you again for your exemplary customer service, we Do appreciate. Sincerely, Bill & Evie F.”
The chair is well made, sturdy & a nice looking chair aesthetically. By simply unlatching the rails that support the back support, you can fold it back. Then, easily pulling up on the seat, the chair automatically retracts to a narrow width. The footrests are easily removable too and you can remove them or leave them on Even when you ‘shrink it’ down for storage or travel. I have had 5 lower back procedures, so safety in lifting if important. It’s Lightweight & not awkward to pick up & put into the back of my car. I have a little Ford C-Max, (small/mid sized crossover), with the capability to fold down the back seat(s) for larger storage. I was Very Thrilled when I loaded it into the back storage section of my vehicle WITHOUT having to fold the seats down, which I needed for passengers! And, what I also discovered, I could leave the footrests ON too & still have enough room to put a duffle bag & my Dad’s walker on top of it!!
One of the things that drew us to it too, were the larger wheels in the back. Makes for a smoother ride for your passenger & better capabilities over your terrain, concrete, asphalt, dirt, etc.
We are Very pleased with our purchase, including the competitive pricing. Thank You JDCSupplies.. I Will make future purchases with confidence, should we have the need with your company & recommend all at the same time.
Sincerely,
Evie & Bill F.

This arrived quickly from Pophaw and was well-packaged with no missing parts. Instructions were straightforward and clear, and this took just a matter of a few minutes to unpack and put together (very little needed to be done in terms of assembly; most of the chair arrives pre-assembled).
The chair is lightweight and very easy to maneuver. My husband has a full-size wheelchair as well, and this one is so much easier to wheel around, lift, and load into our mid-size sedan car. I also like the handbrakes, which are very convenient and easier for me to lock than the wheel brakes on a regular wheelchair. It just takes a little practice if you are accustomed to the other type of brakes.
What I found a little concerning and the reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5, is that, despite the ample weight limit, the chair is narrow and not very stable, and can tip over or backward if you’re not careful with it. My husband (200 lbs) has a bad habit of plopping down into his standard wheelchair, and it would be dangerous for him to do that with this chair and in fact it nearly fell backwards with him in it the very first time we used it. It’s just something we will need to be very mindful of. I imagine this stability issue would be even greater on chairs with smaller back wheels, though, so I’m glad I opted to get a model with 12″ rear wheels.
I do wish the arms of this chair could fold down out of the way like they do on my husband’s regular wheelchair. I’m not sure if that is a feature on any transport chair, though.
My husband likes the height of the seat (a little higher than the seat on his regular wheelchair) and says it is fairly comfortable for the size, although the back doesn’t provide much support and would not be ideal to sit in for any length of time (but in all fairness, this is a *transport* chair). We use a cushion on the seat. He also likes that the arm rests are a little longer than the ones on his regular wheelchair.
Overall, this was a pretty good purchase for the price. I would not want to use it on uneven surfaces or for lengthy periods of time, but we will likely just use this transport chair indoors as a “backup” wheelchair rather than always having to lug the full-size wheelchair in and out of the house (hubby is fairly mobile with a walker, but sometimes needs to be wheeled into the house from the car—we have a ramp—and this will work perfectly for that). I do like that it fits through our smallish bedroom door frame whereas his regular wheelchair does not.
As a very minor side note…one of the plastic caps on the rear wheel fell off today, which is the first time we have taken the chair out of the house. I’m not sure how to put it back on; it’s just a decorative cap that conceals a bolt on the wheel and does not affect the chair’s functionality.

I’ve been using this chair for about a month and am so grateful for it. My mom needs something to help her get around when she needs to leave the house and travel for longer distances than she can comfortably walk. I was initially worried that the seat area might be too small or feel too tight for my mom, who was about 200 lbs, but there are no problems with that at all. Someone in another review suggested getting a seat pad to make the seat more comfortable, and I 100% agree. It greatly adds to the comfort of the chair because I didn’t find it too comfortable without the pad.
What I love about the chair is how lightweight and compact it is. When my mom needs to take a cab or get a ride in a car, the leg attachments come on and off very easily, the chair folds easily, the push handles also fold down to give it a smaller profile for stowing, and the chair is so lightweight that it’s easy to put in and out of a trunk or to carry up and down stairs. The locking mechanism is easy to access and is secure. Unlike a regular wheelchair, this transport chair is intended to be pushed by someone, not for the person seated to be able to push themselves, but I do wish there was a way that the seated person could have access to a/the locking mechanism so they could lock or unlock the chair themselves if necessary. My mom once used to the chair to scoot herself around the kitchen in order to cook and it was tricky for her to stand up and sit down with ease because she couldn’t access the brakes herself from a seated position and the brakes should be on as a person sits and gets up.
Overall, I am thrilled with this chair and highly recommend it. The big wheels create a smooth ride and the material of the wheels allow me to kinda easily slide my mom over in the chair when on a smooth surface and I need more room to navigate in a small space. Highly recommended.

Works well, but within a few days a piece broke and I had to make some adjustments. It wasn’t a big problem for me, but might be for others. One handle wouldn’t lock in place, so you couldn’t push it until I repaired it.

We are very happy with this wheelchair. It is lightweight and sturdy. My dad moves around the house in it by using his feet as they are smaller wheels so you can’t move it with your arms. If you are sitting in it. . The chair is easy to push, fold and pick up to put in the trunk of the car. Easy to use brakes as well. My Dad prefers a 2 inch foam cushion added to the seat. He is 5’ 8”.
